WOW! I was pleased to see you perform last night! I was so impressed! I was watching with a room of about 20 people and they all laughed and said, “Wow! That’s funny, and very clever.” You brought out a great presentation of our craft… and with “2 at the same time”. D

I caught your performance last night on the Late Show. I do enjoy ventriloquists but you take that art to the next level. All I can say is wow!!! Will be ordering your DVD soon. My wife says we are not old enough to go to Branson MO yet
What a talent you are!!
Thanks, Paul Paulson – Mitchell, SD

Watched you on NATIONAL TV last night. WOW!! Only problem… you weren’t on long enough. You did great, looked great, and the performance came off great! I think the audience loved it too. We’re very proud of you.

Well done! Great show on Letterman. Thanks for being such a quality and entertaining representative for Vent. You did us all proud.
I’m sure it was a bit stressful, but you pulled it off like the true professional that you are. I was thinking that it’s a bit ironic that you get the Letterman opportunity now, when you’re settled in Branson, versus 10 years ago when it could have taken your life in a different direction.
Hope it was an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

Breau Jimbeau,
You’re absolutely amazing – I don’t know how you (or anyone) can do what you do on stage. As you’ve heard Glen Campbell say, you may be schitzophrenic but you’ll always have each other! I am preserving your Late Show appearance (the whole show, actually) on DVD for posterior. I mean posterity! I guess I’ve watched too much Norm Crosby. Great job, Breau!

Lived in St. Louis for 27 years and never been to Branson. Started planning a summer trip there this past week but not sure what shows to see. Saw you on Letterman Thursday night and thought you were hilarious! Can’t wait to see you in your house! We’ll be there!!!

Wow, was I surprised and happy to see you on Letterman last night. You were top-notch as always. I was especially glad to see Dave come over to shake your hand after your spot. I know that’s a huge compliment on your talent.
I am sure this will translate into lots of new work for you and Chico. (From the looks of your schedule, you are plenty busy already!) Anyway, I hope the future is just as cool as last night must have been. I did Conan when I was with Kenny Chesney and the whole New York TV experience is awesome. I imagine being on Letterman is triple that! Glad you had such a big break.

I just wanted to say that it is great to see you are still performing and making people laugh. I saw you about 18 years ago when I was around the age of 10 at the University of Evansville. I came on stage with you and was Little Orphan Annie! My mom bought the video that night (we still pop it in every once in a while for a good laugh). So, last night I was sleeping and my mom calls me to say that you were about to be on TV, so I turned it on and there you were. So, I just wanted to commend you on your success! Great job! Take Care!

You were great on David Letterman last night. It just proves what I have been saying to people since we saw your show last summer in Branson — “If you only see one show while you are in Branson it has to be The Hamner Barber Variety Show, it’s the best show in Branson.” You and the Hamners make a great team. Keep up the good work!!
A huge fan.

Hi Jim,
We just watched you on the David Letterman show (twice) and you were awesome – you must be very happy! You left David speechless – quite a contrast to the night before!
Congratulations, and we hope your theatre will be bursting with patrons all year.

Hello from cold and snowy Pennsylvania! I have seen you many times over the years in Branson when you performed with the Osmonds. I was very happy to see you on David Letterman this week. You did a great job! Hope all is well with you and your family. I’ll try to stop and see your show the next time I’m in Branson. Take care, Annie

Jim – I thought your performance on Letterman was absolutely magnificent! It was creative, unusual, high-spirited and wonderfully inventive. I used to be a ventriloquist as a teen-ager and I admired Paul Winchell, among others. But I must say that you take this art to a new level. The role-reversal of ventriloquist and dummy was sheer genius – as was the whole operatic bit. I wish you the best of luck, and I hope your appearance on Letterman will lift your career into orbit – you certainly deserve it. Keep up the good work.

Mr. Barber, over the years I have seen allot of entertainers in your field of work, however, I have never seen any that is, in my opinion, as good as you were on the Letterman show on Thursday February 15th 2007. I don’t know if this was a prerecorded show but I just wanted you to know that I certainly enjoyed your performance. You have a tremendous talent. Keep up the great work. Thanks for an evening of entertainment.

I saw Jim on the Letterman show the other night and I am in awe! You are a very talented man. Your website shows your schedule but nothing for the East coast. Do you have plans to take your show to the Boston area? We have a great dinner/show restaurant in Chicopee, MA called HukeLau. I bring many talented acts there. Any chance?

Just a note to tell you how much we enjoyed your stint on Letterman. Your usual excellent job! You still have the energy! Can’t believe the first time we saw you and “Sevillle” was back in ’85 when we were on the Vent Haven Saturday Night show. Couldn’t believe how fast, let alone how you operated “Seville” and how you got out of him. Glad you’re doing well in Branson.

The first time I saw you perform at Vent Haven with Seville I thought it was the funniest thing I had ever seen. And what a great job on Letterman so the world could see it too. Your closing bit with the water glass was also great. You done us vents good.

I’m a magician in Las Vegas, who’s recently gone Vent – You and Seville were my inspiration.
Hope to meet you one day, perhaps at Vent Haven.

Heya Pal! FANTASTIC job on Letterman Jim… Out of all the Vent (week 1 and 2), I really think your set was the best… Most technically difficult, best control, and great material… That’s the formula for success… And you pulled it off beautifully… Just like you do in each and every show here in Branson!
Take care pal and again, KUDOS!

As a long-time amateur vent (40 years), I was delighted by your turn on Letterman. You squeezed a lot of entertainment into a few minutes, and the audience was clearly into the performance.
I think your personality came across as a genuinely nice and entertaining person. That’s the most important quality of all.
Best of luck in all your endeavors.

Jim, four different people have told me that I look like Seville! Imagine that! I told them all that I am the dummy, but also “you’ll never guess what he pulls to make my lips move”!! Just kidding, everyone really enjoyed seeing you on the program. There is a lot of support here. Good job, hope you are continuing to reap the rewards from your efforts. BGB

Jim Barber grew up in the Black Hills of South Dakota and has entertained professionally for over 30 years.
Even though he has performed with a variety of original puppet characters throughout his career, the Barber & Seville has been the act that defined Jim's creativity in comedy and remains an integral routine in his shows today.
Jim invented the concept and design of the character in 1983 while attending the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
His performances have taken him around the world as a headliner in comedy clubs, colleges, cruise ships and theaters. He now co-owns and co-stars in his own venue in Branson, Missouri where he performs most of the year.
